Thank you. I wasnt having a dig Shell, but I did ask about this a couple of months ago. The Scottish section is very quiet and I am desperately trying to boost the interest in it Smile

If you go up the Highlands and start calling it Scottyland they will set the wild haggis (is it haggisis or haggie for multiple flocking haggis?) on you don't expect any of us to come rescue you! I am sure Alison will come back and tell you. But as far as I know its made from oatmeal, offal, herbs & seasoning.
I have eaten it, but its an acquired taste!

More a cross between a black and a white pudding but with more oatmeal in as far as I remember. Although not sure it has the blood in it!!

Oooo veggie haggis, tatties and neeps, a glass of scotch whisky, a piper, a procession, traditional words and kilts and loads of dancing.  Loved the 'Burns Night' parties.

A traditional Haggis is made with sheep's offal, suet oatmeal and nutmeg and stuff, and stuffed in a sheep's stomach to cook/steam, so I suppose it's like a 'mince' texture.  Ugh methinks, not being a meat eater.

No Hol, Haggi are very shy little beasties that only live up in the hills up in my area. They are about the size of a large hedgehog Smile Very hard to catch thats why the REAL thing in the shops is so expensive!!

Hollie!!! Am shocked you don't know about the wild Haggis (latin name Haggis Scottii) this page will tell you all about the Haggis and their unusual one sided leg length as well as things about hunting season and poaching with use of mirrors..... although sometimes two hunters can grab them in another way all due to the Haggii having shorter legs on one side of the body to the other which is genetic its to help them run around the hillsides quickly! Anyways one hunter sets off in one direction chasing the Haggi and the other hunter runs around the other side of the hill towards the Hggis and when the Haggis sees the hunter coming towards him he tries to turn around and due to the legs being longer on one side of the body he tumbles down the hillside. The hunters rush down the hillside and grab the Haggis whilst its dizzy and dazed Wink
