Huh, our drains blocked and we are on private sewerage (septic tank) so am helping hubby to rod the blasted thing, stopped for a breather, I'm in charge of holding the torch!

We had the same thing a few weeks back Diana, and like you, we are on a septic tank.
Then the drain rod got stuck, eugh, nightmare!

Hubbys already back outside seeing what he can do, cannot use washing machine/dishwasher/sink/downstairs loo - its a nightmare, bathroom upstairs is okay as it's off a different 'run'. The blocked one needs the old pipes digging up & replacing but that means a massive and expensive job! Oh to win the Lotto!!! meanwhile will trundle parrots dishes upstairs in a bowl to wash them!

i had same problem with blokes,got so sick of it ,i had to replace the the whole lot therey expencive,the joy of owning your own home

Yep I agree, stopped for another break! going to try & free it for now then investigate running a new pipe in a different area to join up with the other 'good' one...as you say joys of owning your own home, and living very rural too!!

Still at least the parrots are all fed, cleaned & watered, they take priority .

Well its a big rollover on the euromillions tonight, falling that does your insurance cover drains?

Well we did investigate that a couple of years ago, it covers part of it, then we have to pay the first £1,000 so hubbys trying to sort it himself.

(I have my Euro ticket for tonight)

The drain is unblocked, it was a big job ( sorry about the pun!) and took all day, but it's done (until next time)
